The travelling gavel is once again on the move it was removed from our keep by lodge 177 on the 25th September we of course retrieved it on Monday the 2nd of October and on the 9th of October it has been taken by lodge 1067.

 

We have plans to get it back unless someone else gets it before us


















2016



On Monday 22nd of February 2016 a deputation of 13 brethren from Whifflet St. John No. 963 headed by Bro C. Graig RWM appeared and claimed the Gavel from New Monkland Lodge No 88.


As the donation has been raised the £1 per head the charity collection starts for this year 2016 at £13.00.





2015


On Monday 23rd November a deputation led by Bro .A. Hutton RWM. of Lodge Caldercruix St. John No. 1314 captured the Gavel from New Monkland Montrose No 88, but Tuesday 1st December a deputation  of 24 led by the newly installed Master Bro I. Keltie  relieved Bro. Hutton,in his last meeting as Master of 1314 , of the Gavel, a total of £86 was in charity collection, this was upped to £100 by the lodge and further raised to £150 by a donation of £50 from the IPM Bro. A. McCulloch's mother.  


The £150 was donated The Maggie Centre at M.D.G.H.



On 4 June 2015, within Lodge No. 1067 our Travelling Gavel was the centre of attraction.


3-lodges appeared to capture the Travelling Gavel. !!


Lodge No. 963 arrived with a deputation of 11-No. Brethren and Lodge No. 1314 arrived with a deputation of 12-No. Brethren, intending to capture our gavel from the Holding Lodge No. 1067, however their plans were scuppered when a third deputation from New Monkland Montrose No. 88 arrived with 24 Brethren, and subsequently secured capture our gavel back, with having a greater number within our deputation.


Now that is New Monkland Montrose’ Travelling Gavel at work in the manner as it was designed to do!!

The Total figure for 2014 was £51 and was made up to £100 by Lodge Whifflet St. John 963.

On 14 May 2014, within Whifflet St. John Lodge No. 963 our Travelling Gavel was the centre of attraction.


Coltswood St. John Lodge No. 1067 arrived with a deputation of 22-No. Brethren, intending to capture our gavel from the Holding Lodge No. 963, however their plans were scuppered when a second deputation from Old Monkland St. James No. 177 arrived also, and subsequently secured capture of our gavel with having a greater number within their deputation.


In total, including the deputation from Airdrie St. John No. 166 who were conferring the degree that evening, the Brethren attending this meeting was a superb 116 Brethern.


Now that is New Monkland Montrose’ Travelling Gavel at work in the manner as it was designed to do!!


Well-done Lodge No. 177 a great effort.


Bro. John Mack RWM of Lodge No. 1067 has now the opportunity to capture it at Lodge No. 177’s meeting when they start back in September, not unless some one else has other ideas.

NMM Deputation led by Bro. Iain Keltie RWM, captured the gavel from Airdrie St. John No.166. Bro Jackie Laing RWM (166) unfortunately was on holiday and was not able to complain (again) of only holding the gavel for another short time.


Bro. Gerry O'Hara IPM complained on his behalf. Thank you No.166 for your participation, your Lodge has joined in the spirit of the fund raising now on two occasions, well done.

captured the Travelling Gavel from Bro. Colin Lees RWM @ Lodge 203,

Bro. Joe Speirs RWM Lodge 1067 and his deputation turned up @ Lodge 166

and relieved Bro. Jackie of his 'short lived' guardianship of the gavel.
